Artist Corner in the labs

Updated: Feb 27

Just back from a very enjoyable few days at King's College London, making drawings and Takuhon prints in the Life Science museum and setting up an artist's space in the labs for the Laboratory [Drawing] Life residency. I have displayed some of the prints in a cabinet above the bench, with a few attached to a large wall space which will become a place to add my drawing experiments/tests over the coming year. Some thoughts about the prints: memory of the object embedded in the body of the paper, transforming it into a three dimensional object; the process of making the prints is very haptic - moulding the paper around each object and getting to know its contours and textures through the paper until the ink reveals the surfaces I can feel.

Laboratory [Drawing] Life is a collaboration between King's College London's Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy and Dr. David Hay,

brokered and supported by the Culture team at King's.
